On June 7, 2019, American rapper Future released his much-anticipated extended play record titled "Save Me." Born as Nayvadius DeMun Wilburn, Future has been well-known in the rap scene after joining the Dungeon Family collective prior to 2010. Since then, he created a series of mix-tapes and albums.

Released via Freebandz and Epic Records, "Save Me" is the 35-year-old rapper's debut solo EP. It quickly achieved acclaim via the US Billboard 200 in the number five position. It is a companion piece to Future's seventh studio album, "Future Hndrxx Presents: The Wizrd," that he released on January 18, 2019. On the US Billboard 200, the latter debuted at number one. As a result, Future found himself skyrocketed to the position of a Hot 100 artist with the 10th most entries in history. Unlike it, "Save Me" features only seven songs.

The EP has already been hailed for offering music lovers and fans experiments in modern rap and blues music. The EP hasn't though received praise from everyone. Although some critics felt that it was incredibly self-aware and carried marks of Future's unique style, they also mentioned how the lyrics are sometimes too similar to past efforts and repetitive in others ways. He also lost points with some critics for lack of a cohesive structure in some areas as well. The EP has been criticized for not offering enough to show where Future is taking his music.
