6 Steps to stopping Stress and Keeping it away.

Stressors are inevitable, but stress is not. You might relieve stress temporarily by binge-watching TV or scrolling through social media. The key to stopping stress more permanently, however, is a healthy, mindful lifestyle.

1. When you exercise, your body releases endorphins. Although endorphins are temporary, incorporating exercise into your daily life gives you more energy and lowers your stress levels overall.
2. Your mind is clearer and more relaxed when your body is well-nourished, so a balanced, varied diet can decrease stress levels.
3. Mindful practices such as journaling, yoga and meditation help you stay in tune with your body and surroundings. They also help increase your ability to be objective and reality-check the things you might be stressed about.
4. If your body is energized and under very little stress, your mind will be less stressed, too. Make sure you’re well-rested with 7-8 hours of sleep each night and a consistent sleep schedule, including weekends.
5. Even 20-30 minutes of self-care per day can help you relieve stress overall. Try an enjoyable activity that requires you to engage your senses or imagination such as aromatherapy, art, reading, prayer or journaling.
6. Stay organized. Having a plan to visualize what you’re doing when can help you reality-check the idea that you won’t have time to get everything done. Keeping everything in its place can also help you feel in control.

By switching up your lifestyle a little, you can set yourself up to combat stress every day!
