Nashville native and R&B songstress Layton Greene has just released her new EP (extended play), ‘Tell Ya Story.’ The seven-track disc is a follow up to her 2018 single “Myself” which was the official debut of her own original music. Before that, she had only released a couple of popular online cover tracks.
The popularity of those songs led to her recording of this new disc. As this review is being written, the project is less than a day old and yet it’s already getting attention. Here are some highlights:
The lead-in is “Blame On Me.” The song is an apt opener for a CD Greene claims will take listeners on a roller coaster rid of emotions. Perhaps the best track here is the song “I Love You.” One listens will tell you why it was selected as the platter’s premiere single and an accompanying music video to boot.
The remaining previously unreleased songs, “Never Knew”, “Choices,” “I Choose” and “Knives” are also sure to be pleasing to her new listeners and hardcore fans alike. The closing cut is titled “Open Wounds.” While the subject of this cut might initially seem a little odd, it serves its purpose and leaves the listener wanting more.
The EP includes tuneful tales of her personal lifestyle prior to gaining some fame and a record deal. Overall, Layton Greene’s ‘Tell Ya Story’ is an effective sampling of emotional, original material and should be well received by those familiar with her online work.
